WHY DIETS DO NOT WORK
“The point is not, what kind of diet a person chooses, but in that, how much he is willing to change his habits and his life. Eat less and move more. There really isn't any magic here.” (with) Rina Wing, Brown Wing University professor.
Recent studies once and for all put an end to the long list of diets invented by mankind and state: effective diets don't exist!
Over the centuries, millions of people around the world have tried in one way or another to bring their bodies in line with certain current standards..
At different times, people have compiled thousands of different diets - minimalistic and complex, thoughtful and stupid.
Someone refused meat, someone - from flour, someone - from sweet, someone - from everything, except liquid. Some diets included exotic additions in the form of regular phlebotomy and forced stomach cleansing.. Others limited their diet to some exotic miracle fruit.
Obviously, what if at least one diet turned out to be truly "working" and "universal", then she would ultimately remain the only one and everyone would use her, thinks Tracy Mann, psychologist at the University of Minnesota, author of a number of best-selling diets and eating habits.
But no. The process of inventing new diets seems endless, and the fantasy of nutritionists is truly inexhaustible. And ordinary citizens every time gladly immerse themselves in another fairy tale, which, with painful efforts, allows you to lose several pounds, and then - most often - in a short time to return them back and even with the "addition".
At the same time, the most popular diets are overgrown with legends and remain in demand even decades after, how doctors disprove those "fundamental" principles, on which they are built, says Mann.
It is enough to remember the Atkins diet, first in a series of diets, glorified almost complete rejection of carbohydrates. Or the Ducan diet that develops this idea, which was a "hit" of dietetics for almost two decades.
Today, perhaps, the most popular diet is the so-called paleo diet. The same, which invites modern man to eat exactly like this, as ancient people in the era before the development of civilization - the same, whose life expectancy barely reached half of the modern, ironic medical columnist Roberto Ferdman.
The search for the miracle diet, which will magically allow you to lose weight and, the most important thing, maintain the desired weight for a long time, really useless, states Mann.
Such a diet is basically impossible., therefore, searching for her is meaningless, she is sure. And she is ready to support this shocking conclusion with the results of her research and a number of works of her colleagues in nutrition..
She is sure, that weight can be normalized only using an integrated approach:
– eat less and better
– move more
– think positively
